2021-2022 Funding By Priority Area

COVID Response

Since March, 2020, the Chest has received $194K in donations designated for COVID-19 relief. To allocate this money wisely, our Executive Director Scott Berry meets weekly with other local social service funders to review special grant requests and ensure residents’ needs are addressed quickly, without overlap or duplication.

To date, seven agencies we traditionally support have received our additional emergency funding to expand services.

  • Through the summer, the Boys & Girls Club provided prepared meals to families made unexpectedly food insecure.
  • The House of Hope also met increased demand for food, as well as other features of its assistance program.
  • Project LIFT offered an all-day program, giving youth with a history of delinquency a place to go while schools remained closed.
  • Volunteers in Medicine purchased remote monitoring equipment for home-bound patients.
  • The Hobe Sound Early Learning Center paid one week of staff salaries prior to Payroll Protection Act and
  • The Council on Aging added a refrigerator trailer to meet increased demand for Meals on Wheels.

Hobe Sound Strong Start Initiative

The Hobe Sound Community Chest’s Strong Start initiative (HSSS) provides the necessary resources to enrich the lives and outcomes of Hobe Sound’s birth to age 4 population. HSCC has set an ambitious goal that 90% of this population will receive early childhood education by 2025.
